OK Mr. President, I have done these things for my Country. I’ve joined our Army to help against a ‘reported’ enemy. I’ve taught high school, worked with people disadvantaged by mental disease, poverty and the ill-educated.
I’ve loved and raised children not born of me and not related by DNA. I’ve never been caught speeding and have caused no deaths. I’ve paid federal taxes, state taxes, sales taxes, fees, fines and, not counting hospitals and ambulances, all legal financial obligations including those false accrued.
Up to and including my 59th year, for me, my Country has done to me the following. It has allowed racism, classism and sexism to kill my future and devour me whole and alive. My Country has allowed me to be lied to prison, to emerge blind and toothless. My Country has turned my honorable adherence to the false limits imposed by the policeman’s hideous perjury to remain, overt and covertly as a badge I wear which serves as an invisible barrier.
My Country has allowed psychiatrists to lie away my choices and chances. Some diagnosis(s) were morbid projections of their own psyche. My Country allowed me Social Security Disability Benefits, once I earned them, only to attach chains to the money promised, to take at will and to delegate it’s distribution, then charge me for the travesty.
I kept my promise to stay within the military parameters of my offer of my life to “defend and protect her (My Country) from all enemies domestic and foreign”. (I have met the enemy and he IS u.s.). Then she reneged/denied/lied about all counter-promises and guarantees, including life-long career opportunities and benefits/pension availability, should I ever be rendered incapable of living or earning the means I am “accustomed” to.
Mr. President I’ve answered the calls of My Country, and she has been very demanding; now I ask, “When will My Country do for Me”?
